HAPPY NATIONAL COCOA DAY! In honor of the holiday season, I prepared a delicious, chocolatey, sugary, vegan hot chocolate recipe. Hot chocolate is a sweet, hot, drink that is typically made from cocoa powder, sugar, and milk. My dairy-free rendition is prepared with dairy-free milk, vegan chocolate, and cocoa powder in its raw form (which is naturally vegan) making it rich, delectable, and sweet!
Here is my Vegan Hot Chocolate recipe that dairy-free, vegan, and even milk lovers will ENJOY!
Please let me know what you think and send pictures of your creations in the comments!
Step 1: In a medium-sized pot, add almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, 1-2 tablespoons of sugar {add more sugar for a sweeter hot chocolate}, and the dairy-free chocolate chips.
Step 2: Turn heat to medium, and whisk to combine as it warms. Do NOT bring the mixture to a boil, just whisk until it's warm and smooth. Once the chocolate chips slowly melt and become creamy smooth, remove from heat.
Step 3: Stir in the vanilla and taste for sweetness (add 1-2 more teaspoons of vanilla for a sweeter hot chocolate).
Step 4: Pour the finished mixture into mugs and top with dairy-free whipped cream, dairy-free chocolate shavings, and/or vegan marshmallows, if desired.
Step 5: ENJOY!
